1955 CZ 250cc DOHC Pictures
Add Your Photos! Many thanks to John Zachariah for these pictures of his friend’s mid 1950s CZ 250cc DOHC. The motorcycle was imported to India by Ideal Jawa (I) Ltd, a collaborator manufacturing company of JAWA of Czechoslovakia, for races and has been in India since then.
This motorcycle is on the Front Cover Page of the book “Mick Walker’s European Racing Motorcycle”. On page 35 of this book there is a picture of this motorcycle and mentioned on the right side is “Unlike smaller machine, the 1956 250 CZ has leading link front forks. Note exposed gearbox sprocket”
From page 35 and 36 of the mentioned book it can seen that CZ (Ceska Zbroiouka) started motorcycle production in 1932, but 1955 was the year when CZ truly entered the international racing scene and in the year 1956 the CZ team shows up for the Austrian Grand Prix in early May, with Bartos taking Victory in the 250 race.
