The ES2 was manufactured in 1927 by the Norton Company. It was originally intended to be a sports motorcycle but was surpassed by more powerful bikes.
The bike still remained popular because of its reliability and traditional design. By 1947, the bike had received modern mechanical upgrades.
The ES2 continued being improved upon and in 1953 was fitted with a featherbed. In 1959, improvements were made to the gearbox, cylinders, alternator and brakes.
In 1961, the frame was improved and the final Norton ES2 was produced in 1964.
