1961 McIntyre Velocette Thruxton Pictures
Add Your Photos! Thanks to Henk Alkema of the Netherlands for sending this photo taken in a Danish museum. It is a bike built by the great Bob McIntyre based on a Norton front end and brakes from a Renault mv. And many thanks also to Brian Garrett for adding some further background on the machine:
“I was interested to see the McIntyre Velocette on your site as it is the bike I rode in the Manx grand prix in 1971. I bought the bike from a guy in Scotland in 1968 and sold it after the manx. It was then ridden for several years by Dave East from Leicester who also rode it in the manx before he moved on to an RG500 and won the manx. The bike has had a lot of mods over the years as it had hand made hubs and manx Norton front brake originally. It also had a velo gearbox. It looks as if it still has the rear wheel I built using a velo front hub”
