BSA Bantam Pictures
The BSA Bantam was manufactured by the Birmingham Small Arms Company from 1948 to 1971. There were between a quarter to half a million of these bikes produced, in all.
The Bantam was the quintessential two-stroke, lightweight British bike and outsold all others. The design was based on a German model and was replicated in many other countries.
Harley-Davidson began production in 1947 and companies in East Germany and the USSR were building them even earlier.
In 1948, the original UK version, the D1, was released and could only be bought in the color mist green.
