In all, three Triumph models have been made which share the Bonneville name. The originals were manufactured between 1959 and 1983. All of them have four-stroke parallel-twin engines.
The T120 Bonneville was the first model produced from 1959 to 1975. This bike shared many features of the earlier Triumph Tiger T110. This motorcycle could reach speeds of 155 mph and after some modifications became a stiffer and more stable ride.
The T140 model replaced the former in order to compete with foreign racing bikes. This bike was in compliance to race and be sold in the United States, making is a more versatile bike.
In 2001, the Triumph Bonneville 790 was introduced. These motorcycles resemble the classic designs but are made with all modern materials, comply with emission standards, and have 865 cc engines.
