1912 Rover Pictures
Add Your Photos! Thanks to Bob Hinton for this picture of his great uncle ( Gilbert Brooking) who rode up Snowden on it. He served in WW1 and was quite unusual in being awarded the Military Medal as a Sergeant and then after being commissioned won the Military Cross. The registration is from Gloucester in 1911/1912. And thanks to Max for pointing out that this is a 1912 Rover Motorcycle which features a Clutched or geared with clutch rear hub. The 1912 variant is identifiable from the positions of the U-shaped Saddles over the top tube for holding the fuel/oil tank in place, only two spaced a long way apart in 1911, a third is fitted for 1912. Two close together can be seen in Bob’s photograph with a third hidden.
