Hi,
The bike in the photo has some Chater Lea characteristics from the early 20′s
One being the shallow wedge tank fitted between the frame tubes?
The front fork is also similar to CL
The engine appears to be a sv Blackburne, with outboard drive sprocket
Brooks saddle with the suspension springs hung from the frame is another CL
As usual the photo was of the people and not the bike which makes the puzzle a lot harder
The pillions feet blocking out the rear hub and stand do not help either,
CL used alloy not painted primary and secondary chainguards, so this is another pointer
I would very much like to examine a high resolution copy of this photo to study further
Cheers
John
Then again, its also similar to a Raleigh???
Gnome et Rhone cca. 1922
John,
maybe a little late answer. The bike is a 500ccm Gnome Rhone Type D Grand Sport.
