1920 Whippet Motor Scooter Pictures
Add Your Photos! One of the many similar designs that emerged in the boom following the Great War, the Whippet was a scooter produced by WGC Hayward of Twickenham from 1920 – 1921. Unlike most of its 2-stroke contemporaries, it featured a 150cc ohv engine. There was also a sports version with a racing saddle and wide handlebars. The advertising slogan used was “Runs like a big six”.
This was part of a private collection in Ireland before being acquired by the British Motorcycle Charitable Trust and subsequent restoration by the Sammy Miller Museum.
On display at the 2010 Footman James Classic Motor Show, at the NEC. Read the blog for more event details.
