Thanks to Gary Bullock for these pictures of his father on his Norton posing with his friends in around 1937. Great poses!
And thanks to Leon for the following comments on the bike:
The bike is a 1929/30 ES2 (a Norton expert will know the exact year!), the sporting 490cc OHV. It differed from the Model 18 in some minor engine detail (like the enclosed push rod springs), having the same cradle frame as the OHC CS1, and the magneto mounted behind the cylinder driven from the drive side.
