1932 AJS TB6 Pictures
Add Your Photos!Chris Penketh has sent these pictures of his friend’s 1932 AJS TB6 big bore. He has been unable to find out very much about this model even from the AJS club. If anyone out there can help, or has any information on the bike, please get in touch with me.
And many thanks to Harley Welch for this additional information:
“Is actually a 1932 and a one-year-only model. I had one for a couple of years that I acquired from a fellow in Eastern Canada who had imported it from England. Had to trade it away to settle a debt about 10 years ago and as far as I know it’s still in the area.
The TB6 was the first model to be produced after the Collier brothers (Matchless) took over AJS. The “T” designation is to indicate that it is a 1932 model as AJS had been doing a sequential letter to indicate model year for several years. The last “real” AJS 350cc to be produced from Stevenage was the SB6 of 1931 which was very similar in appearance, but had a vertical cylinder and forward mounted magdyno.
I had my TB6 all the way apart and noticed that a lot of the parts had an “S” stamped into them. This lead me to believe that the TB6 was actually made up of left over SB6 components that were in inventory when Matchless took over. Sort of a “parts bin bike” to use up existing inventory…
That’s about all I can tell you, other than they are indeed very rare. This is the only other I’ve ever seen besides the one I had. Years ago I got an e-mail from a fellow in Australia who had one, but never saw any photos of it”

I just bought this bike today. When the photo’s on this site were taken did the bike run and were there any issues with it?
Hello,
A friend of mine bought an AJS T8 500cc 1932 about a year ago here in France and is presently restoring it. He would love to get in touch with people who have information on this bike and is also looking for pictures.
Kind regards, cordially

Hi!
I have got a T8 ( unrestored) and a TB6 (undergoing renovation right now).
Have got wrong fork for the TB6. Got one for AJS 1936 350. It has a ring on top for mounting a speedometer, Will do finally if I dont find the right one. Will perhaps put a motorcycle type watch there instead.
