A lovely 500cc M24 Gold Star, the model that started a legend…

During 1937, BSA decided to enter the Empire Star into some short races to give the machine some publicity. This would be the first race since 1921 when BSA retired from racing. A 500cc machine ridden by Wal Handley reached 1st place at Brooklands with a fastest lap of 107.57mph. Consequently he was awarded a BMCRC Gold Star badge. So at the next Earls Court show, BSA launched the M24 Gold Star and production was started in 1938.

On display at the 2010 Footman James Classic Motor Show, at the NEC.  Read the blog for more event details.
