Many thanks to Allan Sørensen for this picture of his father, Svend Aage Sørensen, riding his 1939 250cc Excelsior Manxman in the 1948 TT. This bike was specially made for Svend and featured a unique cable operated rear brake. Svend was an unofficial member of the Excelsior factory team between 1935 and 1939. There was a new bike for him almost every year, and he could keep it or sell it after the race.
