Thanks to Chris Overs for these pictures of his rare 1936 BSA R4.  They were only made for about 18 months. The engine is one half of the V-twin Y13.

  1. I had an R4 for about 3years when i lived in Catford s.e.6 from 1949 to 1952 I brought it from a mate his name was Fred also there was 4 of us who had bikes and we were never off them,
    I owned 5 different bikes but the R4 was the best of the lot.
    I sold it later for, £20 to buy the girl friend an engagement ring so we have been married for 68years..
    And still going strong.
