Thansk to Ric Moss for these pictures of his Grandfather and Grandmother on their motorcycle probably taken around 1919 – 1925. And thanks also to Jaroslav Krutský for identifying it as a Zenith.

  2. Let me guess that Ric – or at least his grandparents – lived in Australia. The bike is not a Zenith, but is typical of the products of any one of the many small Australian manufacturers in the years after WW1. JAP twin (many were stamped “War Product”), Sturmey Archer CS gearbox, Druid Mk.2 fork, AMAC carb, Best and Lloyd dripper – all good product from “home”, and surprisingly there was some supply from which to build bikes in 1917-18. Only the Dixi magneto (from the US) is a nod to the difficulties of getting magnetos after the German Bosch became unavailable.
