A stunning 1938 Benelli 500cc racer. This was on the Carole Nash stand at the 2004 Stafford show. Anyone know much about these?

Apologize me but this is not a race machine but a standard Benelli 500 with OHC “over head cam” engine, Benelli is an old italian motorcycle factory located in Pesaro city and from 1934 start with the production of a nice motorcycle 500 OHC to road use. Benelli builded two version one for standard used in normal version 4TN (in italian language 4 = petrol engine T = turismo N = normale) and another with the same engine but with a more hight compression and more power as sport model type 4TS (4=petrol T=turismo S=sport) can you localizzed this mark stamped on the left engine carter “chain side”.
The first version builded from 1934 to 1936 with rigid frame and engine head with elicoidal valve springs, the second version builded from 1936 to 1941 with rigid frame or elastich frame and engine with air spring valve, was possible to have with the socond version (1936-1941) also the engine ignition with magneto (standard factory delivery) or as optional with coil.
