This 250cc bike was a works entry for the 1938 Ulster and came 4th ridden by FS Cadman. The bike was returned to the factory and a works plunger rear end end was fitted (only 3 of these were ever done for pre unit bikes). It has had a successful history winning the Southern 100, and gaining respectable results in the TT, Ulster and NW200. Originally the bike was painted in the Mechanical Marvel colours with a silver tank with a red panel, but was repainted during its long racing career.

  1. Great pictures. I rode a 1935 Manxman 350 cc in the Durban to Johannesburg regularity rally some years ago, 660 kilometres in 2 days! It had an open megaphone and the sound was spine tingling. The best bit was when I had to make up time after a mudguard bracket sheared – pure magic!
