A 1978 MV Agusta 500/4. This wonderful machine was ridden by the one and only Agostini at the 2008 Festival of 1000 Bikes.
While this is a nice bike, it isn’t a 500-4. You can see from the crankcase that it is a road MV engine. The 500-4 had a magneto hanging off the front of the engine and a much narrower sump.
…and they are road forks and Magni road pipes…!
Well Peter, as MV stopped racing in 1976 and this one is stated as 1978 its not much of a surprise that it may not be the genuine article, BUT if it was mine I would not care as it is a beauty and if its good enough for Ago to ride then its enough said!!
That said it should really say the machine is a copy though, and in the spirit of the legend that is MV .
